Zyra në Etiopia e Programit Botëror të Ushqimit të OKB-së (WFP) ka njoftuar se në dy javët e ardhshme do të sigurojë ndihmë ushqimore për 450 mijë etiopianë të cilët u prekën nga konfliktet midis forcave qeveritare dhe Frontit Çlirimtar Popullor Tigray (TPLF).
Në një deklaratë me shkrim nga zyra në Etiopia e WFP-së thuhet se ndihma ushqimore do t’u dërgohet njerëzve në nevojë në rajonet Dessie dhe Kombolcha.
Në deklaratë thuhet se në dy javët e ardhshme 450 mijë etiopianë të prekur nga konfliktet në vend do të marrin ndihma ushqimore.
Po ashtu theksohet se WFP ofroi ndihmë ushqimore për 2.9 milionë njerëz në Tigray, 220 mijë njerëz në Amhara dhe 124 mijë njerëz në Afar, ndërsa organizatave ndërkombëtare u është bërë thirrje gjithashtu për të ofruar ndihmë.
Qeveria etiopiane më 2 nëntor shpalli gjendjen e jashtëzakonshme në vend për shkak të sulmeve të rebelëve të TPLF-së që vazhduan avancimin e tyre në jug.
Në kryeqytetin Addis Abeba u krijuan forcat e mbrojtjes kundër sulmeve të mundshme nga TPLF.
Më tej, thuhet se kryeministri etiopian, Abiy Ahmed, ia transferoi kompetencat zëvendësit të tij dhe shkoi në front për të luftuar kundër TPLF-së, e cila filloi një rebelim kundër qeverisë qendrore.
Konfliktet që kanë vazhduar për më shumë se një vit në veri të vendit kanë zhvendosur rreth 2.5 milionë njerëz, me më shumë se 5 milionë në nevojë për ndihmë urgjente në rajon.
